Our Story

In January 1946 our little fellowship had its’ humble beginnings as a Bible study for children in the lumber mill town of Korbel, CA. Austine Fernleaf, a mother of nine held the meetings in the fire hall. In the early 1980’s a church was available to purchase in Blue Lake (2 miles west) and the congregation moved with Pastor Roy Horton and his wife Charlotte at the helm. The Horton’s pastored for 35 years(1957-1992). Bill Lowery and his wife Karla pastored for the next seven years and it’s quite interesting to note that Bill is the grandson of Austine Fernleaf! The current pastor is Kerry Houston and his wife Natalie, they have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. In September 2000, the church fellowship officially changed its’ name to Blue Lake Community Church!
